Eric Garland

Eric has been building and investing in tech that impacts media for two decades. Most recently, he led venture and growth deals for The Walt Disney Company.

Previously, Eric founded big data company BigChampagne, a leading web and mobile analytics provider to brands, Wall Street analysts, and the entertainment industry. BigChampagne was acquired by Live Nation (LYV) in 2011. Eric created Live Nation’s innovation group, leading web and mobile strategy, product development, and tech investing.

Eric received his B.A. from Rice University, where he has served as an alumni interviewer for years.

Evan Richter

Evan has spent a decade investing at leading VCs and corporate venture groups, most recently at The Walt Disney Company as a member of Disney’s Corporate Strategy and Business Development team, focused on disruptive innovation and investments in leading tech companies.

Before his time at Disney, Evan was an investor at Insight Partners, a leading software and internet venture capital and private equity firm with over $30B in capital commitments.

Evan received his MBA from UCLA Anderson and undergraduate degrees from the Wharton School of Business and the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania.

Madeline Kaplan


Prior to joining Smash, Madeline worked in the investment banking division at Goldman Sachs across consumer, technology, media and healthcare.

During her undergraduate years, she interned with Crosscut Ventures, Canyon Partners, Atom Tickets, Lionsgate and Fox21 Television Studios.

Madeline received an A.B. in Economics from Harvard College. She currently serves on the Friends of Harvard Softball Board and as an alumni interviewer.

Mandy Salzman


Prior to joining Smash, Mandy led sourcing for the Disney Accelerator at The Walt Disney Company.

Previously, she was a Director at Techstars where she invested across accelerator programs. Mandy has also worked in entertainment at Fox and Sony, in early-stage venture at Plug and Play Ventures and Structure Capital, and with later stage companies as part of the IPO team at NASDAQ.

Mandy has been honored as a Forbes “30 Under 30” in venture capital. She received her undergraduate degree from the USC Marshall School of Business.
